The Worcester Allotments Forum is currently making arrangements for the 2019 AGM.
It is now scheduled for Tuesday 10th March 2020 in the Council Chamber, Guildhall, Worcester.
Full details will be announced in due course. All tenants are invited and are encouraged, indeed most welcome to attend!
The principal business of the AGM is to elect the Officers of the Forum – i.e. The Chairman, Vice-Chairman (if required), Secretary and Treasurer.
Nominations for these positions are now being sought, and need to be advised to the Vice-Chairman before the end of February 2020.
Should you, as one of our Plotholders, be interested in taking up one of these positions, then please advise your Site Rep, and the Forum’s current Vice-Chairman.
This year’s RHS Malvern Autumn Festival is scheduled for the xx – xx September 2020 at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern.
The Autumn Pavillion is hosting the UK National Giant Vegetables Championship where expert growers battle it out to grow enormous veg and be crowned champion. 2016 saw four World Records broken including the world’s heaviest Red Cabbage at 23.3kg (grown by David Thomas, Cornwall), almost 10lbs heavier than the previous record set in 1925. They’re looking forward to breaking even more records this year!
The WAF’s 2019 Allotment Competition Awards Ceremony was held at Worcester’s Guild Hall on Wednesday 30th October at 7.30pm. The results for all categories were announced on the night, with prizes being awarded by TBA, Councillor TBA.
The categories are:
- Best Full Allotment Plot
- Best Half Allotment Plot
- Best Polytunnel / Greenhouse
- Best New Tenant
- Most Child Friendly?
- Most Eco-Friendly?
Cups were awarded for the winners of each/most category/ies, engraved and presented for one year. Runners-up medals and certificates were awarded in each category for Gold, Silver Gilt, Silver and Bronze.
